2nd Sapporo Conference for Palliative and Supportive Care in Cancer
The field of oncology has seen considerable advances in recent years: progress in surgery, pharmacotherapy and radiotherapy as well as palliative medicine and psycho-oncology have extended the life prognosis and improved the quality of life. The aim of the Sapporo Conference for Palliative and Supportive Care in Cancer is to achieve an organic unification of the various fields of oncology and to promote palliative oncology as a multidisciplinary approach in order to help patients and their families lead a better life.
The 2017 conference will focus on “palliative care from an early stage”. Beside networking opportunities, it will provide symposia on “The recent advances in psychotherapy for cancer patients” and “The future for palliative oncology”, plenary sessions, for example on personalized therapy in cancer related fatigue and evaluation of symptoms and distress in palliative care, as well as a workshop on meaning-centered psychotherapy in advanced cancer patients.
