The importance of patient care in optimizing treatment outcomes in senior adults
Florian Scotté, recorded at TAO (Transatlantic Oncology meeting), Nov 21-22, 2013
Florian Scotté starts with pointing out that patient management following treatment is included in the definition of supportive care. Data shows that early supportive care extends survival, with improved quality of life (QoL). Perspective often determines what we see and by involving many different perspectives, we can see more. Data is shown on the difference of perspective between the patient and the clinician, with regards to reported toxicities and side effects. A 20% difference has been measured between what clinicians report and what patients perceive.
